— the short version
Beeps is a small collection game. To let you sign in, remember what you've scanned, and show friends your field guide, we store a little bit of data about your account and your scans. We don't sell it, share it for advertising, or use third-party trackers. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time.
— what we collect
- ·Account info. Your email address, a chosen username, and an optional display name. Stored so you can sign in and so friends can find you.
- ·Scan data. When you scan a barcode, we store the resulting figure, the product code (UPC) that produced it, a rough location bucket (a geographically hashed zone — not your precise latitude/longitude), and the time window (morning/afternoon/etc.). This is what makes your field guide remember where you caught something.
- ·Gameplay state. Your collection, friendships, gifts, and crafting history.
- ·Basic device info. Standard crash and error telemetry from Apple's App Store / TestFlight. We do not run a third-party analytics SDK.
— what we don't collect
- ·Camera images. The camera is used only to detect a barcode on-device. We never upload, store, or transmit the camera feed or any photos.
- ·Precise location. Scans generate a coarse zone identifier so the game can place the discovery, but your exact GPS coordinates are not saved to our servers.
- ·Contacts, calendar, microphone, or photo library.
- ·Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or third-party advertising SDKs.
— how your data is used
Data is used only to run the app: to authenticate you, show your collection, let you add friends, resolve scans into figures, and enforce a basic per-hour scan limit to prevent abuse. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
— who stores it
Beeps runs on Supabase, a managed Postgres + authentication provider. Your data is stored in Supabase's US region. Supabase processes data on our behalf under a standard data processing agreement and does not use it for its own purposes.
We use Apple's TestFlight and App Store Connect for distribution; Apple's privacy terms apply to the standard crash reports those services provide.
— permissions the app asks for
- ·Camera — required to scan barcodes. Used only while the Scan screen is open.
- ·Location — used when you scan to derive the coarse zone a figure is tied to. Optional; scans still work without it, just without location-flavored rarities.
— children
Beeps is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
— your rights
You can, at any time:
- ·Request a copy of the data tied to your account.
- ·Correct your username or display name from the Profile screen.
- ·Delete your account. Email us at michaeldcruz@gmail.com from the address on file and we'll remove your account, collection, and any friendship records within 7 days.
— changes
If we change anything material in this policy, we'll update the date above and note the change in-app on your next launch.
